چکیده

The design for an inductive superconducting quantum interference proximity transistor with enhanced performance, the L-SQUIPT, is presented and analyzed. interferometer based on a double-loop structure, where each ring comprises superconductor-normal metal-superconductor mesoscopic Josephson weak-link read-out electrode implemented in form of tunnel probe. Our allows both to improve coupling external magnetic field increase characteristic flux transfer functions, thereby leading improved ultrasensitive limited magnetometer. L-SQUIPT behavior analyzed dissipative dissipationless Josephson-like operation modes, or mode latter case by exploiting dispersive readout scheme. performance makes promising detection as well specific applications technology, responsive magnetometry at milliKelvin temperatures required.

The quantum interference effect transistor.

We give a detailed discussion of the quantum interference effect transistor (QuIET), a proposed device which exploits the interference between electron paths through aromatic molecules to modulate the current flow. In the off state, perfect destructive interference stemming from the molecular symmetry blocks the current, while in the on state, the current is allowed to flow by locally introduci...

Reversibility of superconducting nb weak links driven by the proximity effect in a quantum interference device.

We demonstrate the role of the proximity effect in the thermal hysteresis of superconducting constrictions. From the analysis of successive thermal instabilities in the transport characteristics of micron-size superconducting quantum interference devices with a well-controlled geometry, we obtain a complete picture of the different thermal regimes. These determine whether or not the junctions a...

Superconducting quantum interference device instruments and applications

Superconducting quantum interference devices SQUIDs have been a key factor in the development and commercialization of ultrasensitive electric and magnetic measurement systems. In many cases, SQUID instrumentation offers the ability to make measurements where no other methodology is possible. We review the main aspects of designing, fabricating, and operating a number of SQUID measurement syste...
